Nicholas Maggs, instructed by Steve Tarleton of Tony Harden Solicitors, represented a former police officer acquitted of a historic indecent assault.
The prosecution case alleged that the offence occurred over 30 years ago when the defendant was on duty as a Detective Constable at his police station. It was alleged that he had locked the complainant, a fellow police employee, in a room and indecently assaulted them.
The case presented significant challenges for the defence, particularly with regard to disclosure, and efforts to locate and obtain any significant witnesses and documentary or other evidence from the time of the incident to support the defence case.
After a 5-day trial at Canterbury Crown Court, the defendant was unanimously acquitted.
