The 2027 edition of the Chambers & Partners guide to the legal profession has been published today and Chambers is delighted to have received a total of 59 recommendations, with 2BR described as “one of the country’s leading criminal and regulatory sets” and “a very broad set of formidable barristers”. A total of 38 individual members of Chambers – 18 silks and 20 juniors – have been recommended as leading practitioners in one or more of their fields, across seven of Chambers’ practice areas: Crime, Financial Crime, Financial Crime (Corporates), Health & Safety, Inquests & Public Inquiries, Professional Discipline and Sports Law.
This follows on from the recent publication of the 2027 edition of the Legal 500 Guide, in which Chambers received a total of 74 recommendations, with 43 individual members – 19 silks and 24 juniors – recommended as leading practitioners in one or more of their fields, across eight of Chambers’ practice areas: Crime, Fraud, Business Crime (Corporates), Health & Safety, Inquests & Inquiries, Professional Discipline & Regulatory, Sport, and Sanctions Law. This followed further recognition for 2BR at the 2026 Legal 500 Bar Awards, where Chambers and members of our team were shortlisted for Crime & Extradition Set of the Year, Financial Crime Set of the Year and Corporate Crime Set of the Year, with Jim Sturman KC and Alastair Smith nominated for Sports Law Silk of the Year and Financial Crime Junior of the Year respectively.
The guides have been full of praise for Chambers, with Legal 500 describing 2BR as “an excellent chambers with real quality at all levels” and “a fantastic set” which “never fails to deliver”. The Chambers & Partners guide describes 2BR as “one of the country’s leading criminal and regulatory sets” and “a very broad set of formidable barristers”.
Both guides also had praise for the strength of our clerking team. Chambers & Partners noted that the clerks provide a “fantastic service” and described how they are “approachable, responsive and consistently go above and beyond to provide support when needed.” Legal 500 described the clerks as “consistently excellent – responsive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused”, with clerks who are “friendly and easy to deal with”, “very professional, very organised” and always willing to “go beyond the extra mile”.
2BR is a leading set specialising in crime, fraud and financial crime, corporate crime, health and safety, professional discipline and regulation, inquests and public inquiries, sports law, sanctions and public law. Our members act in some of the most significant, complex and high-profile cases in these fields, providing specialist advocacy and advice to individuals, businesses, regulators and other organisations in the UK and internationally.
Joint Heads of Chambers, Brian Altman KC and Christine Agnew KC, said:
“We are extremely pleased to see Chambers and its members continue to be recommended in so many fields and to see continued improvement in our developing areas of work. Chambers has a longstanding reputation for excellence which we have continued to build upon with the recruitment of a number of exceptional new barristers throughout 2026.
In addition, Faye Stimpson has joined us as Senior Clerk, complementing our already excellent clerks’ room. We look forward to even more success in the coming years.
We would like to thank our clients and referees for their continued trust and confidence. We also extend our thanks to the editors and researchers at Chambers UK and Legal 500 for their diligent work in producing this year’s rankings.”
