Tomas McGarvey, instructed by the Registrar, represented the appellant in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) on appeal against a sentence of 42 months imposed at Northampton Crown Court following a guilty plea for an offence of Violent Disorder.
It was successfully argued that the Crown Court Judge imposed a sentence that was wrong in principle, there being no obvious reason why the sentencing judge departed from the sentencing range appropriate to the offending.
The 42 month sentence was reduced to one of 38 months.
