Sports Law. Tomas McGarvey instructed to represent Argentinian international and London Irish player Facundo Gigena 

London Irish Rugby Football Club instructed Tomas McGarvey to represent Mr Gigena at a red card Appeal Hearing on Monday 25th April 2022. During a Premiership tie with Newcastle Falcons on 22nd April 2022, Mr Gigena received a red card in relation to a ‘punching or striking’, contrary to World Rugby law 9.12. At the hearing the RFU sought to amend the particulars of the charge but following submissions the panel refused the application and the red card was rescinded. As a result Mr Gigena was free to play against Leicester Tigers in the Premiership Cup on Tuesday 26th April (following the late withdrawal of Allan Dell due to a failed fitness test).
