Eleanor Gwilym acts for politician acquitted of sexual assault

Cases, News 4 Jun 26

Eleanor Gwilym, instructed by David Nicholson and Christina Barath of Dobsons, secured the acquittal of her client charged with three offences of sexual assault. Eleanor’s client, an elected politician and former Mayor, was accused of sexually assaulting two different complainants.

On the Crown’s case, the complainants did not know each other. The allegations were all supported by the evidence of eyewitnesses.

The defence case was that the complainants and Prosecution witnesses had colluded to invent the allegations against him.

Following a 2 day trial, Eleanor’s client was acquitted of all charges. He retains his good character and his position.
