Richard Matthews QC and Shauna Ritchie represent Principal Contractor acquitted after trial of Health and Safety at Work Act charges

Cases 8 May 17

Richard Matthews QC, leading Shauna Ritchie, instructed by Ashleigh Harold of My Business Counsel, secured the acquittal of WCL – principal contractor for a major construction project in Hannover Square, London – on charges contrary to sections 2 and 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. A jury unanimously acquitted the company of all charges at the conclusion of an eight week Old Bailey trial. The allegations arose out of a Met Police and HSE investigation into an incident whereby a member of the public was killed by a falling window frame.
