On 20 October 2022, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) published its Final Report.
Established in 2015 by the then Home Secretary, Theresa May MP, the Final Report is the culmination of the Inquiry’s work incorporating and building upon the evidence heard across IICSA’s 19 investigations.
Brian Altman KC was Lead Counsel to the Inquiry, providing strategic oversight and legal advice to the Chair and Panel on all aspects of the Inquiry, as well as overseeing the large counsel team. Brian, together with three other members of 2BR, Jacqueline Carey KC, Thomas Daniel and Chris Saad, are proud to have played an integral role in the Inquiry and in a number of those investigations, in particular. Those investigations were Allegations of Child Sexual Abuse linked to Westminster; Cambridge House, Knowl View and Rochdale; The Roman Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Birmingham case study; the Internet; the Sexual Abuse of Children in Custodial Institutions: 2009-2017; and Institutional Responses to Allegations of Child Sexual Abuse involving the late Lord Janner of Braunstone QC.
