Rape Acquittal in 3-week Court Martial Trial

Christopher Martin led Natalie Bird in the defence of Corporal X at a Court Martial sitting at Bulford Military Court Centre. Corporal X faced a charge of attempted oral rape dating back to 2018, when attending a training centre with the complainant and first defendant. Christopher’s cross-examination led to one Prosecution witness (a serving Sergeant) admitting on oath that they had lied to Royal Military Police when providing their witness statement. The Board returned Not Guilty verdicts towards the end of the trial’s third week. Christopher and Natalie were instructed by Sam Nundy of Levy & Co.
