Nick Bonehill successful in Police Gross Misconduct case

Nick Bonehill, instructed by Sam Haldane of JMW solicitors, represented an officer facing Police disciplinary proceedings for gross misconduct. 

The gross misconduct arose out of an off-duty incident in 2022.  The officer had been convicted of a non-battery assault in relation to the incident, and also accepted using abusive language during the course of the that incident. The Appropriate Authority had argued that the conduct was so serious that the officer should face immediate dismissal.  

Having heard lengthy and focussed mitigation over the course of a 2-day hearing, the Panel were persuaded to impose a final written warning and the officer was allowed to keep his job.
