New training ground for Burnley

12:20pm 18th November 2010

Burnley Football Club's training ground looks set to get a 21st century upgrade.

Planners look set to give it the green light at a meeting later saying there are "very special" circumstances for the development.

Burnley Football Club have trained at Gawthorpe since the 1950's but in recent years it has fallen behind the many state of the art facilities at rival clubs in the Championship and Premier League.

The new Gawthorpe will see a new indoor training arena, new changing rooms, a gym, referee’s room, staff offices, meeting area and kitchen.

If given the thumbs up later building work is set to start in the new year and be completed by the summer.
