Coleman: Back our promotion push

accrington stanley

2:53pm 5th October 2017

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman's calling on local supporters to get down to the Wham Stadium this weekend and support his side's promotion push.

With the international break coming this weekend, the Reds are hopeful of a bumper crowd for their game with Luton Town.

Stanley go into the game sitting third in the League Two table, unbeaten in four outings.

Ahead of the game, Coleman's been speaking to the club website:

"I would urge anybody to come down and see what we are all about,” he said. “You’ve got two form teams who both like to score goals, it won't be a dour game that's for sure.

"I've been saying it for the past few years, we play some terrific football here and if you don’t come along then your missing out.

"I was pleased with the crowd in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night and for the ticket price that they paid they got excellent value for their money, the product we serve up here is as good as you will get anywhere else.

"There’s some real quality in this league and that will be on display Saturday."

This weekend's opposition Luton are just two points and two places behind Stanley in the League Two table.

It's a return home for the Reds following back-to-back away wins.

Coleman believes the home form will be crucial to any potential success this season:

"It's important that we win a great proportion of our home games.

"You don't see teams with inconsistent home form going up, the crowd do play a big part in that, they are always up for it against the big teams so we're looking forward to a good atmosphere.

"We like these games, Luton will bring a big travelling support with them, it possibly brings out an extra couple of per cent in the players.

"We lost this fixture last year and I'm still scratching my head about it, we know all about Luton and they will know all about us.

"I just hope we can get back to playing the way that I know we can play, creating chances and outnumbering the opposition with possession."
