UPDATE: A59 in Gisburn reopens after heavy flooding

a59 closure flooding

Published by Laura Pratt at 6:46am 14th March 2019 (Updated 9:08am 14th March 2019)

The A59 in Gisburn had to be closed by the police earlier, following heavy flooding.

The stretch between Sawley and Bolton-by-Bowland was too deep to be driven through safely, with about a foot of standing water.

It's since been closed and reopened.

A tree's also blocking Whalley Road, causing disruption to commuters between Whalley and Simonstone.

It's as Lancashire has a yellow weather warning for wind in place until later on this afternoon.

It's expected to cause even more issues for commuters through the morning.

Ten flood alerts are also in place across Lancashire.
