Published by Laura Pratt at 3:22pm 26th February 2019

The A59 in Chatburn has been closed in both directions following a serious collision.

An air ambulance has been called to the scene, after the crash at around 1.30pm today (26/2/19).

Diversions have been put in place for motorists:

A spokesperson from the police said:

"We were called at around 1.30pm to reports of a serious collision between a van and a car on the A59 at Chatburn, at the junction of Sawley Road.

"Emergency services, including the air ambulance, are at the scene and the road is currently closed in both directions. There are diversions in place in Gisburn and Sawley.

"It is expected the road will be closed for some time so we would ask motorists to avoid the area if possible".
