UPDATE: Huge fire breaks out in Burnley

A huge fire has broken out at a former school in Burnley. 

There are six fire crews attending a large fire at the former Ivy Bank High School in Padiham. Crews were called just before 2pm this afternoon (17/2/19). 

Residents are being told to keep windows and door closed.

Byron Street and Lowerhouse Lane are both currently closed.

UPDATE

Lancashire fire and rescues says the fire has now been brought under control and local residents are safe to open their windows and doors should they wish. Firefighting will continue and the investigation into the fire has begun.

There are no reported injuries.
