Call for more Lancashire Community First Responders

#Lancashire news Chris Ennis lifesaver cpr event

Published by Laura Pratt at 6:00am 12th February 2019

A Lancashire man is calling for more people to become Community First Responders.

Chris Ennis has made it his mission since having a cardiac arrest himself in 2016.

He managed to survive because the people around him luckily knew CPR and first aid.

A Community First Responder also got to the scene and a defibrillator was nearby.

Since then he's gone on to become one himself - and wants others to join him.

Chris tells 2BR it's a simple thing to learn - but CPR could save a life like his:

"Having died and been clinically dead for over 30 minutes, I was saved by people who know CPR - and a Community First Responder who managed to get my heart going.

"If you can get there two minutes before an ambulabce, that two minutes can mean the difference between life and death.

"You've got to try and do something, you can't just stand there dithering. It can't get any worse because they're already dead.

"It could be your partner, it could be your dad, your mum, your neighbour - a stranger in the supermarket.

"If you just stand there and do nothing, and they do not survive - how would you feel? I'd feel terrible - but now I know what to do".

To share his message, Chris will be appearing on tonight's episode of This Time Next Year on ITV.
