Lancashire's roads are badly affected by snow and ice this morning (Wednesday).

Most of the UK's been hit hard by wintry showers overnight.

There's warnings for travellers in the north-west of England, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

A number of bus services have had to cancel buses, including Blackburn with Darwen's Travel Assist - who will be reviewing weather conditions later this morning.

Manchester airport and Liverpool airport are both affected - with flights being delayed or cancelled this morning.

Dozens of schools across the county have had to shut today. Check our list of school closures below.

The Met Office has extended a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across the North West until Friday.

Forecasters say motorists need to be extra careful on the roads this morning and warn that public transport will be affected too. Drivers are being urged to slowdown across the region.

Lancashire County Council have said that due to the continuing weather conditions, salting of priority footpaths will be undertaken today across East Lancashire. Tomorrow's expected to see this winter's coldest temperatures yet - with lows of -10.
