Injured woman rescued from river bank

Firefighters have used a special cage to rescue a woman from the banks of the River Irwell in Rawtenstall.

Crews from Rawtenstall, Nelson, Hyndburn a boat crew from Preston went to her rescue at 6:45am.

Firefighters lowered the rescue cage down to pull the woman up to safety.

She has now been taken to hospital.
