92 arrested during festive drink/drug crackdown in just 10 days

92 people have been arrested since Lancashire Police launched their Christmas campaign targeting drink and drug drivers.

That means in just 10 days, almost 100 people have been caught either drink or drug driving in our county.

Last year more than 125 people were caught drink-driving in Lancashire during the force's Christmas drink drive campaign. If numbers carry on increasing, like they are doing, this year will beat 2017's arrests by a landslide.

Officers are reminding people to not put themselves or others at risk.

The force has issued a strong message to the public:

"We actively target drink and drug drivers 24 hours a day, throughout the year, but we always focus on the issue in December as we know it can be a time when some people are tempted to get behind the wheel despite the fact they are impaired.

"As of lunchtime today, Monday, 10th December, we'd arrested 92 people this month on suspicion of drink/drug drive offences.

"Some of these will have subsequently been charged, others will be waiting on the results of evidential blood tests, but we don't want to see anyone lose their licence, potentially their livelihood and possibly their liberty.

"Drink and drug driving risks your own, your children's, friends' and family's and other people's lives. These figures show our pro-active approach is working and drink/drug drivers run the very real risk of being caught. We are out across Lancashire 24/7."
