Police hunt driver after pair hurt in crash


3:21pm 16th October 2018

Police are trying to find the driver of a car that was involved in a serious accident in Blackburn.

At around 1:30am yesterday morning (Monday 15th October) a Honda Accord and Vauxhall Astra collided in Mellor Lane, near to the junction with Whinney Lane.

The driver of the Honda suffered serious chest injuries, while a passenger in the Vauxhall has a serious hip injury.

But the driver of the Vauxhall left the scene before police arrived.

The road had to be closed for five hours after the accident.

Sgt David Hurst, of Lancashire Police, said:

“We are appealing for information after a serious road traffic collision in Blackburn.

“Two people have been left with serious injuries and we want to establish exactly what has happened.

“Anyone with information can call 101 or email 2856@lancashire.pnn.police.uk quoting log 0054 of October 15.”
