Man jailed after Accrington thefts

A man's been jailed after reports of shoplifting and burglaries in Accrington.

Kristopher Murphy, 30, was arrested over the weekend.

A number of businesses in Accrington - mainly along Warner Street - were left scared to leave their businesses at night after being targeted.

Windows were smashed and things stolen.

The Hyndburn Neighbourhood Police Team increased patrols of the area and engaged with the community.

As a result, Murphy was identified and arrested.

He went on to admit to numerous offences.

He was charged and remanded to appear in Preston Magistrates Court, where he was sentenced to 196 days in prison.
