Air ambulance called to crash in Colne

There's been a serious accident on Skipton Road in Colne this afternoon. 

The air ambulance along with the police and fire service were called out to the crash at 12.40pm today. 

The collision involved two vehicles - a Toyota and a Volkswagen. The driver of the Volkswagen is reportedly okay, but a female has been injured. She has been removed from the Toyota and is on her way to hospital. Her condition is unknown. 

The road (A56) remains completely blocked at the junction with Noyna View. Diversions are in place but police are warning that traffic will be heavy in and out of Colne and rural roads surrounding the area including Foulridge.

The force are also asking people to avoid the area.
