Boy, 9, fell '30 feet' from roof in Blackburn

Police cordon in blackburn

2:05pm 8th October 2018

Police say a 9-year-old boy who fell through a roof in Blackburn dropped around 30 feet.

Leon Langford spent the night badly hurt on the factory floor before being found by workers earlier this morning.

He was originally reported missing last night.

Detective Inspector Mark Saunders has spoken exclusively to 2BR this afternoon:

"There's a whole host of information I'm aware of, we've got witnesses, CCTV enquiries.

"It looks like at the moment from what I can gather there's two young boys, nine-year-olds, who have been playing yesterday afternoon on the side of the building. They've climbed up or certainly one has climbed up and then he's dropped through the roof.

"He's probably dropped about 30 foot.

"He's got significant injuries.

"We've got the main evidence from the scene. The two boys I mentioned, the other boy will be spoken to to establish what's gone on and what the lead up was to his friend falling through the roof.

"It's not clear yet (whether his friend saw Leon fall through the roof)."

DI Saunders added that Leon is now in a stable condition in hospital surrounded by family.
