Rammy Sept 14 Kelly Clarke

Published by Alice Sofield at 10:24am 14th September 2018 (Updated 1:21pm 14th September 2018)

Four men have been arrested after a disturbance in Ramsbottom.

Shortly before 8:35am this morning (14 September 2018), police were called to reports of a disturbance involving weapons on Dundee Lane.

Police swiftly responded and commenced a search of the nearby.

As a result of enquiries carried out by officers from GMP’s Bury Borough and Specialist Operations Branch, three men were arrested nearby in connection with the incident.

A fourth man was arrested a short time later.

Detective Inspector Simon Edgington, of GMP’s Bury Borough, said:

“Earlier this morning we received a report of a disturbance involving weapons in Ramsbottom.

“Given the nature of the report, people in the area will have noticed a highly visible response from locally based officers and officers from our Specialist Operations Branch.

“As a result of the swift response by police, four men have now been arrested in connection with the incident and will be questioned by detectives later today.

“Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway and I would urge anybody with information about what happened to contact police.”
