Lancashire commuters warned over M65 closures

Improvement works are due to take place on the M65 for the next four weekends.

It's for Junction 5 and Junction 6.

M65 Junction 5 westbound exit slip

The work is to increase the capacity of the slip road by converting it into a two-lane running. It is believed this will reduce the issue of queuing traffic on the mainline carriageway reducing the risk of vehicle collisions.

Work is due to start from 14th September 2018 for four weekends. This will take place between 21:00 on the Friday to 05:00 on the Monday, every weekend.

A 24 hour closure will be in place on the M65 Junction 5 westbound exit slip during the dates stated above.

Junctions 6 westbound exit and entry slips

The work is to address some drainage issues and flooding on the M65 westbound carriageway between the Junction 6 exit slip and Junction 6 entry slip. To resolve this, works will be carried out to improve existing drainage facilities on the southbound carriageway as well as undertaking some surfacing works.

Works are due to start from 21:00 on Friday 12th October to 05:00 Monday 15th October.

Another 24 hour closure will be in place on the M65 between Junction 6 westbound exit and entry slips and a diversion route will direct traffic off at the M65 Junction 6 exit slip onto Whitebirk Roundabout and then back onto the M65 via the Junction 6 entry slip.

Highways England would like to apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause you. If you wish to discuss this project further or have any questions, please contact their 24hr Highways England Customer Care team by phone on 0300 123 5000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk.
