Constable Paul Shore from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

"Our investigations are still at an early stage and we are committed to building a picture of what happened so we can give the victim's family the answers they need.

"This collision occurred during rush hour on a busy main road, so we are confident there are witnesses who can assist our investigation.

"If you were in the area and saw what happened, or have dashcam footage that might be of use to us, please get in touch."
