UPDATED: Man on roof in Great Harwood

On-going police incident in Great Harwood due to a man on top of a roof. 

At 5am this morning, the man climbed on the roof of the old Snuffy's Bar in Commercial Road.

Lancashire police and negotiators attended the scene. 2BR received reports that the man on the roof was throwing slates at officers.

Buses had to be diverted. Police were urging people to avoid the area all morning.

UPDATE

Police confirm they have safely detained the male with no injuries to the public or police.

There is damage to the property where he had taken refuge and this is now subject to a further investigation which will be led by their CID.

 

 

Lancashire police were joined by Lancashire Fire and Rescue during the incident. 

Thanks to an aerial platform, taser and negotiators, the man was brought down and arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and burglary.
