Tributes pour in for Burnley teen

Jackson Pickering, 18, passed away in June 2017 after being hit by a car in Burnley

Published by Alice Sofield at 1:32pm 21st June 2018

Tributes have poured in for Jackson Pickering, the Burnley teenager killed after being hit by a car.

The 18-year-old died on Wednesday (20/6/18) after the collision last weekend.

Jackson had been crossing Springfield Road in Burnley late on Saturday night (16/6/18) when he was hit by a VW Golf.

He suffered serious head injuries and was in a critical condition at Royal Preston Hospital.

Lancashire police announced that he sadly passed away yesterday afternoon.

Now his friends and family have been remembering Jackson.

Jackson's family have paid the following tribute to him:

"Jackson was a much loved son, grandson, uncle and brother to his 5 siblings. An avid football and Liverpool fan, Jackson lived for football and he played for a number of local Saturday and Sunday league teams, even scoring a penalty at Turf Moor in a schools competition. He had a large circle of friends and an even larger heart, always being the first to offer help to anyone that needed it. He had a heart of gold and will be sorely missed by all who knew him."

Online, friends said:

"Rest in peace man you were a pleasure to work with and know. No one ever had a bad word to say about you and you made my days at work so much more bearable. A lad I’m proud to of had a friendship with".

"I'm absolutely devastated. Heavens gained a beautiful angel, I'll forever treasure all the memories I had with you. Taken away from us all far too soon. You always brought a smile on everyone's face. You'll forever be in our hearts, love you lots and sleep tight angel".

"I love you so so much you didn't deserve this brother, I don't know how I'm going to not cope seeing you every day".

Two people were arrested after the collision on Springfield Road in Burnley last week.

They've been bailed and will appear in court in July.
