LIVE: Getting from Burnley to Manchester by train

Another day of delays and cancellations on Northern Rail services.

Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle has written to the Transport secretary calling for the governement to take control of the franchise saying the service has hit a 'critical failure'.

This morning we set 2BR's Laura Pratt the seemingly impossible task of getting from Burnley to Manchester by train in rush hour.

Here's what she's faced so far....

 

 

So that's a number of cancelled trains, a 20 minute delay and trip to Manchester going via Hebden Bridge.

It's been 11 days of chaos since a new timetable was introduced on May 20th.

Council leaders across Lancashire have added their voices to the growing list of demands to deal with the problems.

Laura spoke to one commuter at Burnley Manchester Road about the -problems...

Two and a half hours after starting her journey back from Manchester, Laura has found herself stranded in Rochdale.

Here's the latest....

A number of delays on all services.

After a number of delays and platform changes, Laura has now managed to get a train back to Burnley.

Laura's latest train update.

Here's the details - Kirkby Merseyside said platform 6, didn’t turn up, and wasn't in any other platforms so who knows what's happened to that one

It then changed to Rochdale which was 20 minutes delayed.

It then got changed to platform 5 so everyone had to run.

Northern workers telling people to keep eye on the boards for changes and walking along the platforms telling people about changes

That's the only way I found out it changed to 5 for the Blackburn train so I had to dash across to make it!

Laura now has to get back to Burnley.

She's facing delays and cancellations....

Laura's made it to Manchester!

Here's the latest update from Northern Rail on services this morning....

8:32am

After a 20 minute delay, Laura's train to Hebden Bridge arrived.

She's now waiting for a train to Manchester after setting out at Burnley Manchester Road at 7:00  this morning.
