'In Molly's Memory'

In Molly's Memory

Published by Laura Pratt at 6:00am 15th May 2018 (Updated 11:48am 15th May 2018)

A Nelson and Colne college student's being remembered as Mental Health Awareness Week (14-18th May) continues.

Molly Carter from Burnley was just 20-years-old when she took her own life last August.

For her loved ones, family and friends - it came out of the blue and was a complete shock.

That is why Nelson and Colne College want to use the awareness week to make sure their students get the help they need.

Chantelle and Kim were two of Molly's closest friends on a hair and beauty course at the college.

They tell us how Molly's death affected them, and why more needs to be done to stop people getting to a crisis point;

The college unveiled a bench in Molly's memory at a charity fundraising event yesterday (14/5/18).

They want students to be able to use the bench as a place to reflect and remember Molly - and know there is always help available.

Talks from Molly's mum and health professionals also formed part of the walk.

Molly's tutor Claire Pye tells us she hopes the event helps current and future students;

The staff from the college welcomed members of Lancashire Care to speak at the event.

Becky and Nick tell us what help is available;

A raffle was also held, whilst Nelson and Colne College continue to collect items to be donated to the mental health wards at Burnley General Hospital.
