Don't suffer from isolation on your own

A new Chatty Cafe has launched in Accrington, to stop people from suffering in isolation on their own.

The table at Elmfield Hall's cafe is a place for you to sit and find a friendly face if you need one - and was created by Community Solutions.

Players from Accrington Stanley were at yesterday's (6/4/18) launch, and are backing the initiative for people to find help.

Defender Jimmy Dunne told us their involvement could help men and younger people seek help too;

"Men can be not be as outspoken about how they feel.

"And footballers can portray themselves as hard, and not ones to talk about their feelings.

"So something like this can help people come in, speak to others and not feel embarrassed about it".

And teammate Offrande Zanzala agrees.

He's moved to Lancashire from Derby - and says not knowing anyone or having people to speak to could be tough;

"Coming from a different city, it's always good to hear about communities doing stuff like this.

"Being from different backgrounds and ages - us being a part of that shows how great Accrington is, both on and off the pitch".

The campaign was launched by Community Solutions at their cafe in Elmfield House yesterday.

We met with Managing Director Deborah Clark.

She told us how a simple drink in the cafe can lead people on to getting help in other aspects of life;

The cafe is open Monday to Friday, 10am until 4pm.

The Chatty Cafes table is clearly marked for anyone needing a friendly face, a chat or help.
