Bomb threat letters sent to schools

POLICE CAR

4:00pm 19th March 2018
(Updated 5:32pm 19th March 2018)

Schools across the country have received an email containing a hoax bomb threat.

The email threatened to detonate a bomb, unless a ransom for thousands of dollars was met.

It's believed more than 400 schools and colleges across the UK have received the threat today.

Lancashire Police confirmed that schools in our area had received the hoax email.

Whilst schools elsewhere in the country were evacuated as a precaution, schools in Lancashire were not.

Police don't think the threat is genuine. but the email is being investigated nationally by Scotland Yard.

Lancashire police say there's no threat to schools.
