Fatal collision in Bacup

Two people have died after a collision in Bacup early this morning (11/3/18).

The Ford Focus had been travelling along Todmorden Road at 1.35am.

It's crashed into a parked Vauxhall Astra, and overturned.

The 30-year-old driver and 22-year-old passenger from from Rochdale were both taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

They sadly died from their injuries a short time later.

Their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Sgt Finn Quainton from the Road Policing Unit said:

Firstly my thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of these two men at this incredibly sad and difficult time.

“We need anyone who may have seen the Ford Focus car leading up to the collision to get in contact with us as they may have vital information that could assist with our investigation.”
