Chaos hits Lancashire roads

Persistent snow over the weekend left Lancashire in travel chaos.

We had parts of the M65 closed, gritters out and quite a few collisions.

On the M65 - cars were abandoned due to dodgy conditions, whilst there were several accidents that had to be cleared.

And the M66 was gridlocked last night after huge amounts of snow fell quickly.

In Blackburn with Darwen, there were issues on Grane Road, which also had to be closed for some time due to heavy snow.

BwD Roads have praised the workers who've been out all weekend manning the roads, to make them safe;

Well this morning, it seems like the worst of it has passed - but there are still a few problems.

There's reports of hazardous driving conditions in both directions on the A59 Preston New Road, with ice on the road.

A lot of smaller roads across Lancashire are also apparently icy - meaning more people are using the motorways, leaving them busier than normal.
