Shoppers evacuated at Blackburn Mall

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from Blackburn Mall.

Alarms have gone off in the town centre and at Blackburn Market.

It was set off by small fire outside the Town Hall.

Lancashire Police were called to the scene at around 12:55pm this afternoon (13th Sept).

It's now been put out and shoppers have been left back into the stores.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said:

"The Mall Blackburn was safely evacuated this afternoon after a fire alarm sounded at the Town Hall.

"The safety of our customers, retailers and staff is of paramount importance and all procedures were followed efficiently and correctly."
