(Updated 1:32pm 17th July 2017)

The family of the woman hit by a bus in Bacup have paid tribute.

76-year-old Margaret Wright died after she was hit on Wednesday.

She'd been walking along a zebra crossing when the bus hit her.

This is what her family said;

"It is with great sadness and regret that we have to say goodbye to our dear and much loved friend Margaret Wright, who died as a result of a tragic road accident on July 12th, 2017.

"Margaret had a varied career.

"She was a cub leader in her home village of Brown Edge in Staffordshire. She studied and became an Articled Clerk in a solicitors.

"Then, in 1962, Margaret and her family moved to Neath in South Wales, where she spent the next 30 years working in the accounts department if Rheola Aluminium in Neath, then in Rhiedol Avenue Post Office in Swansea and a number of other post offices in South Wales.

"After the death of her parents, Margaret moved to Bacup in Lancashire to be with her cousin Dorothy Semple, who she looked after until Dorothy died.

"Margaret loved sport and played netball in her younger days.

"She was an avid rugby union and football supporter, her teams being Swansea City and Port Vale. When in Bacup in her later years Margaret played bowls for Bacup Bowling Club and was an active member and their treasurer.

"Margaret was a much loved and respected lady by all who knew her, and will be sadly and greatly missed by her family, her many friends and neighbours.

Margaret, a kind hearted and beautiful lady – gone too soon".

Our thoughts are with Margaret's family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
