More protests at Lancashire's fracking site

There could be more action taking place outside Lancashire's fracking site.

Police are telling us that July has been earmarked as a month of action by campaigners.

Officers say that could mean we could see more protestors on Preston New Road.

They're also warning that there might be more direct action taking place against the controversial work going on at the site.

If this happens, then more police will be sent into the area.

It comes as drivers there have already experienced delays on the major road since work at the site began.

Lancashire Police also say that this will not affect every day policing in the local community or their ability to respond to emergency calls.

[Lancashire PCC has been out to meet campaigners]

Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw has already told us about how much this is already costing the force.

"We now have significant numbers of officers being taken from other places of Lancashire.

"We need more officers all the time, we are struggling.

"We already have a forced that's stretched.

"We're taking officers away from the streets of Lancashire who were keeping those communities safe, and they're now going to Fylde.

"To make sure the work of Cuadrilla can continue in the face of growing protests."
