Charlie Proctor is getting ready to lead out Accrington Stanley for their game with Crawley Town.

The 3-year-old has been battling an aggressive cancer for more than a year now.

His best hope of survival is with treatment in America, but it will cost more than £315,000.

His family have been busy fundraising since his diagnosis - but they still have a long way to go to hit their target.

Accrington Stanley Manager, John Coleman, said:

"We are absolutely delighted to have young Charlie here It's wonderful that he'll get the chance to lead the team out; it’s just a shame it has to be under such tragic circumstances.

"We thought it was important to do our bit to raise the awareness of Charlie’s condition, he’s local lad and we like to help out in our own community as much as we can.

"I would encourage people to get down to the WHAM! Stadium and show their support for Charlie and also to visit his giving page and donate whatever they can to what is a very worthy cause."

Charlie, from Church, has already had 22 gruelling rounds of chemotherapy.

He was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma in his liver in February 2016.

Charlie's mum Amber said:

"I would like to thank Accrington Stanley for giving us the opportunity to put my brave little boy front and centre before the game.

"Everything we can do to bring attention to Charlie’s illness helps and I would like to think that a few generous people may be inspired to donate to his cause after this.

"We are a way away from our target but it is true every little does help."
