Whalley Library could be saved

9:07am 5th April 2017

It looks like Whalley Library could remain open after an offer to run it.

The Lancaster Foundation have come forward to try and keep it open.

They want to make sure it can still be used by the community, with plans for a meeting space inside.

Chris Richardson of the Foundation said:

"The Lancaster family are very sympathetic to the Whalley residents following the library closure and see the potential of a thriving community hub being created to benefit many.

"Whalley is undergoing much growth and change and we see this potential community meeting space as a real benefit to the locals.

"We are already encouraged by the strength of public support."

The Save Whalley Library action group say they will need to find a committee to help run the building.
