Trip to London for A&E campaigners

Chorley A&E walk

6:05am 4th March 2017

Campaigners fighting to protect Chorley and South Ribble's A&E are heading to London today.

They're taking part in the 'Unite' march in a bid to save the entire NHS.

It's as sustainability and transformation plans for the service have filled people with fear that our NHS could be privatised.

Ray Bouvier planned the trip they're taking - he says there's an important message they need to share;

"It has to be a message that goes to central government, that the people will not lie down and just take this.

"We just want to show this government that we're not prepared to just sit down and watch them decimate something that is owned by the people, paid for by the people.

"It won't be taken away and privatised".

49 campaigners from the 'Yellow Army' are making the long coach trip to London.

Ray says they need to show their support - because a lot rides on the C&SR campaign..

"We just want to know what's in the offering, and as far as we're concerned - it doesn't look good.

"It's this area that will be targeted, and we feel if we fall then the rest of the country will go like dominoes.

"Because they will have beaten the only successful campaign in the country".
