Woman dies after being hit by car

OFFICERS are appealing for information after a 68 year old local woman sadly died following a collision.

The incident happened at around 5.50pm on Friday 19 December on Brunshaw Road, Burnley.

It is believed that the woman was crossing the road when the collision occurred with a black Ford Focus car.

The woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious head injuries, but sadly died this morning (Saturday 20 December).

The road was closed for more than two hours following the incident.

"An investigation to establish the circumstances of the collision is already underway and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information about what happened to contact us.”
