Clarets release retained list

2BR NEWS

7:17am 19th May 2014

Burnley defenders Michael Duff, Daniel Lafferty and Luke O'Neill, along with midfielder Junior Stanislas, have all been offered contract extensions to their Turf Moor careers. However, as previously announced, fellow midfielders David Edgar, Keith Treacy and Brian Stock together with goalkeeper Nick Liversedge are all set to leave the club when their current deals expire this summer.

Meanwhile, Development Squad players Cameron Howieson, Jason Gilchrist, Jaden Hall, Tom Anderson and Steven Hewitt have all also been offered new contracts. But fellow teammates Jack Errington, Kyle Brownhill, Luke Conlan, Luke Gallagher, Micah Evans, Alex Coleman and Archie Love are all released.

The moves, detailed in the annual retained list, outline manager Sean Dyche's plans as he looks to reshape his squad for the 2014/15 season. Canada international Edgar joined the Clarets from Newcastle United back in 2009 and made 114 appearances, scoring four goals, during a five-year stay at Turf Moor. Wide man Treacy arrived at Burnley in the summer of 2011 from Lancashire rivals Preston North End and featured for the Clarets on 75 occasions, getting on the scoresheet five times, while also having a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday in 2012. Stock spent two seasons at Turf Moor having joined the club from Doncaster Rovers and went on to make a total of 42 appearances. Liversedge joined Burnley from non-league Whitby Town last summer, but did not feature for the first team.

All remaining senior professionals, second and first year scholars remain under contract, with Dyche looking to add to his squad over the summer in the build-up to next season.
