Following a trial in Chelmsford Crown Court, Molly’s client, M, was acquitted of entering into an arrangement contrary to section 328(1) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
M was alleged to have been transferring bags of concealed cash (almost £350,000) between two vehicles along with three other men when they were intercepted by HMRC officers.
M’s three co-defendants had all pleaded guilty at an earlier stage of proceedings.
Molly cross-examined four HMRC officers who claimed to have seen M take part in the exchange of the bags. The jury deliberated for one hour before returning a unanimous verdict.
