Matt Kingswell secures suspended sentence on appeal in case of causing death by careless driving

Cases 9 Jul 25

Matt Kingswell successfully appealed against an immediate custodial sentence imposed by the Guildford Magistrates’ Court, persuading the Crown Court judge that the sentence should be halved in length and also suspended.

Matt’s client, a man of previous good character, had been sentenced to 10 months’ immediate  imprisonment by the Guildford Magistrates’ Court for an offence of causing death by careless driving.   Matt persuaded the Chichester Crown Court that the sentence should be reduced to 5 and a half months and should also be suspended.

Matt was instructed by Gavin Rofer and Meghann Lloyd of Keppe Rofer Solicitors.
