Katherine Higgs’s client acquitted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm

Cases 1 Aug 23

Katherine Higgs, instructed by Nicola Carter of Tuckers Solicitors, represented a defendant acquitted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, and assault by beating of an emergency worker before Woolwich Crown Court. The defendant was alleged to have punched one of the complainants to the ground, knocking her unconscious, following a road rage stand off. He was further accused of assaulting a witness to the alleged offence and an arresting officer who had subsequently attended the scene.

The jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts in respect of all three offences within two hours, despite the oral evidence of five prosecution witnesses, including an independent witness, along with agreed medical evidence.
