Jonas Milner, instructed by Katerina Tsibouklis of Rustem Guardian Solicitors, secured the acquittal of his client following an 8-week trial at the Central Criminal Court.
The initial alleged offence took place within a hostel in Wimbledon where, during the third national lockdown, a murder was committed by the first defendant using a zombie knife. Following the murder, the knife was left with Jonas’s client, who eventually admitted hiding the knife elsewhere within the hostel, rather than handing it into Police immediately. It was the prosecution case that he did so in an attempt to assist the first defendant evade culpability for the murder.
The defences of both defendants involved a “cut-throat”. The first defendant blamed Jonas’s client for protecting the real killer, whereas Jonas’s client asserted that he was acting out of duress of circumstances and duress of threats from the first defendant.
The jury convicted the first Defendant of murder and unanimously acquitted Jonas’s client.
