Jack Coyne’s client acquitted of conspiracies to import and supply cannabis

Jack Coyne, instructed by Ella Hughes of Rustem Guardian solicitors, successfully represented a client who faced an indictment alleging conspiracy to import cannabis into the UK from the US and conspiracy to supply cannabis within the UK (as well as alternative counts of possession with intent to supply and simple possession).  Two alleged co-conspirators had already pleaded guilty to their involvement, leaving Jack’s client and three others to face trial over the course of 11 days at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

At the close of the prosecution case, Jack made a submission of no case to answer in relation to the conspiracy counts.  

Having heard Jack’s submissions, the prosecution conceded that the conspiracy counts should not be proceeded with and subsequently offered no evidence on the conspiracy counts resulting in not guilty verdicts being entered in relation to Jack’s client. 

The trial continued before the jury in relation to the lesser alternative counts (possession with intent to supply and simple possession), but at the conclusion of the trial the jury returned verdicts of not guilty on both counts in relation to Jack’s client.  

As such, Jack’s client was acquitted on all counts.
