Harry Laidlaw, instructed by Oliver Mather of Lloyds PR, represented CR who was acquitted of conspiracy to supply over £1m worth of heroin and cocaine which was found in a garage in Harrow.
The garage was discovered after an extensive surveillance operation by specialist police units. It was raided by the police in September 2021 and was found to contain over £1m of heroin and cocaine and a hydraulic press. CR was arrested having jumped into the neighbouring garden, his phone was found in the garage, heroin was found on his scarf and there was surveillance evidence to support the prosecution case that he attended the property the previous day. The prosecution case was that he played a willing and active role in a large scale drugs conspiracy.
Harry successfully argued to the jury that the prosecution had failed to prove, whether by forensic, cell site or CCTV evidence, that CR was a part of the conspiracy or had any knowledge of the contents of the garage. It was argued that there was an equally plausible and innocent explanation for CR’s presence at the address.
CR was unanimously acquitted after a 5 day trial at Harrow Crown Court.
