Fred Batstone’s client acquitted of sexual assault 

Fred Batstone, instructed by Tavia Johnson and Ian Clift of JSP Solicitors, successfully represented a man of good character accused of sexual assault. 

The prosecution alleged that Fred’s client, whilst working as a cleaner at a gym that the complainant frequented, had sexually assaulted the male complainant by touching his penis whilst he was drying himself in the shower area. The Defendant denied any contact as alleged. The Crown relied on evidence from the complainant and CCTV showing his immediate reaction to the alleged assault. 

Following a hung jury at a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court in June 2025, the jury at the recent retrial returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty.
