Dean George KC successfully represents businessman for violent disorder following Southport tragedy

News 2 Jul 25

Dean George KC, privately instructed by Bambos Tsiattalou and James Achillea of the Stokoe Partnership, successfully represented a businessman accused of violent disorder and then affray in relation to the public disorder in Whitehall and Parliament Square in July 2024, following the stabbing of children and adults in Southport.

Dean successfully argued that his client had been unlawfully kettled prior to the acts complained of, relying on Articles 5, 8, 10 and 11 of the Human Rights Act, section 14 of the Public Order Act and raising issues as to the Gold, Silver and Bronze Command protocols employed on the day in question.

The prosecution eventually conceded and offered no evidence on the day of trial, resulting in Dean’s client being acquitted.
