Dean George KC successfully represented a 16-year old girl who had been charged with murder. By the time of the trial, the prosecution accepted it could not proceed on the murder count against Dean’s client (albeit the two other defendants remained charged with murder) and proceeded with a count alleging that she had assisted the co-defendants to commit the murder.
The prosecution had alleged that Dean’s client, together with her two co-defendants, had driven to the area in North London to seek out a person with whom some of them had an issue, before stabbing the victim to death in the street. Following a ‘cut-throat’ trial, in which one of the co-defendants positively blamed Dean’s client for the murder, Dean’s client was acquitted by the jury. The two other defendants were convicted of murder.
Dean was instructed by Sandra Riordan of Powell Spencer Solicitors.
